The Mechatronics Laboratory was established in 2015 to support a wide spectrum of laboratory sessions for many courses, such as Applied Electronics, Control System, Automatic Machine Design, Digital Control, and other project-oriented courses.
Here, students develop hands-on skills in precise movement control of mechanical components, system structure balance, and performance optimization. Registered students have full access to the facilities that include 12 workstations, each equipped with a desktop PC, an all-in-one electronic instrument, a sensor-actuator-linkage module, and a servo motor test platform.

The all-in-one instrument (NI Virtual Bench) contains a mixed-signal oscilloscope, an arbitrary waveform generator, a digital multimeter (DMM), a programmable DC power supply, and a single channel digital I/O which connects a device with a PC. The Lego Mindstorms EV3 module includes sensors, motors, and linkage components so that students can efficiently assemble a mechanism according to their design to realize mechatronic and control projects. Finally, the self-developed servo motor test platform is composed of a servo motor, a hysteresis brake, and a single-axis adjustable load platform that is programmable with the C programming language. The motor is a servo permanent-magnet synchronous motor, equipped with a 13-bit encoder, which makes it suitable for high-speed, high-response, and high-precision positioning applications.
