自傳 (Biography)

     Professor Kuan-Lun Hsu received his Bachelor degree and Doctoral degree (His first PhD under the supervision of Prof. Long Iong Wu in a successive master-doctor program) both from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, in 2008 and 2017, respectively. In 2014, supported by National Science Council (NSC), Taiwan, Prof. Hsu was awarded the Graduate Students Study Abroad Program, to work with Dr. Kwun-Lon Ting. In 2016, Prof. Hsu was awarded his second Doctoral degree after a subsequent two-year fully-funded studying in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Technological University, USA. With a goal of promoting mechanism and machine science, he joined the faculty of Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Taiwan University in 2018. Prof. Hsu is a recipient of Young Scholar Fellowship Programs (MOST's Einstein Program aims at funding scholars under 32 years) sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan. He is a Technical Committee for Linkages and Mechanical Controls of IFToMM and a Member of ASME. Prof. Hsu’s research interests include type synthesis of novel followers for cam mechanisms, modular approach for planar, spherical, and spatial linkage analysis, and modular synthesis and singular analysis of over-constrained mechanisms.

 

研究領域
Research Interests
     Mechanism Design Lab (MDL) aims to explore the fundamentals and applications of mechanism kinematics. The current research topics include: (1) Modular analysis of linkage mechanisms: Modularizing the linkage allows the analysis to be simplified by splitting down the whole analysis into smaller analyses of predefined modules; (2) Modular synthesis and singularity analysis of over-constrained mechanisms: Propose modular approaches capable of deriving a family of over-constrained mechanisms systematically by combining legitimate modules. The developed assembly strategy treats the topological synthesis of over-constrained mechanisms as a systematical derivation rather than a random search; (3) Type Synthesis of Novel Followers for Disk Cam Mechanisms: propose new follower designs to overcome inherent shortcomings of the conventional cam mechanism, including reducing the pressure angle to improve the force transmission effect and reducing the contact stress to extend the life of the cam.
