Overview
The network system of the College of Engineering is jointly planned and maintained by the College and its affiliated departments. The current network administrator is Technician Te-Shun Liu (berserke@ntu.edu.tw) from the College of Engineering. Since each department has its own network administrator, network issues should first be checked and filtered by the respective department’s administrator, and only when the problem is confirmed to originate from the server room should it be reported to the College network administrator for further handling. The Department of Mechanical Engineering’s network server rooms are located in Rooms 412 and 415 of the Mechanical Engineering Building. The core switch is an ARUBA 3810M, which connects via a Cisco 3850 switch (provided by the departmental computing center and installed in the fourth-floor server room of the Integrated Building) to the university’s main fiber backbone managed by the Computing and Information Networking Center. The department’s laboratory networks are primarily connected through two Dell N4032F switches purchased by the departmental computing center in 2022. These switches are linked via optical fiber to the ARUBA 3810M, providing an external connection to the NTU Computing Center at a speed of 10 Gbps. While the Yonglin Biomedical Engineering Hall connects through a Cisco 3750G switch provided by the NTU Computing Center at 1 Gbps.
